Constantina Varsami is a MS & PhD student at CASE. Her research focuses on formulating methodologies for designing the built environment by considering the energy potential of its context. Since urban design affects both the macroscale of the surrounding environment as well as the microscale of urban quality, a multi-scalar and transdisciplinary approach is necessitated to ensure an effective procedure for dealing with its complexity. Acknowledging infrastructural energy requirements along with the criticality for energy access, design’s capacity to transform the operational processes of buildings and cities can be employed to assist in addressing population growth and urbanization tendencies that the urban environment is experiencing.

Constantina holds a Diploma in Architecture/Engineering from the School of Architecture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where she was awarded the Prize of Excellence for the Faculty of Engineering. She is a qualified licensed architect, registered member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and previously worked at the Laboratory of Heat Transfer and Environmental Engineering (LHTEE), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where her research focused on aerodynamic design techniques and their applications on tall buildings.
