Yehong (Mia) Mi

Yehong (Mia) Mi is a Ph.D. student in the Built Ecologies program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Her research focuses on sustainable building materials and passive design strategies, particularly the optimization of hemp–lime composites as tunable bio-composites that bridge material formulation and building performance.

She was awarded the Humanities, Arts, Architecture, and Social Sciences(HASS) Fellowship for the 2025–2026 academic year at RPI, and co-authored with her advisor, Professor Arta Yazdanseta, the review article" Knowledge mapping for advancement of hemp-lime composite in the construction industry: a systematic literature review (2004–2024)".

Prior to her doctoral studies, Yehong earned a Master of Science in Matter Design Computation (now Design Tech) from Cornell University, where she specialized in computational design and material systems, and a Master of Architecture II (M.Arch 2) from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc).
