Aida Ayuk
Aida Ayuk is a CASE alumni through the Arch Away program. She graduated from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture with minors in Studio Arts and Entrepreneurship.
Aida is a designer and researcher based in the Washington, D.C. area, focused on advancing sustainable, healthy, and equitable outcomes in the built environment. Originally from Takoma Park in the Washington Metropolitan Area, her work has been recognized by Architectural Design, Dezeen, ACSA, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Smith College.
At CASE, Aida contributed to interdisciplinary research under OBM International’s AERA project, developing data-driven tools, simulations, and prototypes that explored indoor environmental quality, human health, and material systems. Her work also investigated vertical urban agriculture as a response to food insecurity, including the design and prototyping of hydroponic wall systems and recycled-material acoustic panels. This research continues to inform her focus on performance-based and wellness-centered design.
Following graduation, Aida was selected as the 2023–2024 Just | Change Research Fellow at EskewDumezRipple, conducting place-based research on climate and environmental justice in New Orleans and Washington, D.C. Through community engagement and stakeholder interviews, she developed the firm’s Equity Guide and Mapping Equity Resource Book. These tools translate contextual data, lived experience, and spatial analysis into actionable design insights.
Aida is currently the Sustainable Design Coordinator at EskewDumezRipple, where she leads firmwide sustainability initiatives. Specializing in integrating sustainable, healthy, and equitable design strategies, she coordinates pledge commitments, facilitates design charrettes, and identifies opportunities for impactful solutions. She works closely with project teams to build internal capacity and ensure a shared foundation in sustainability, health, and equity across all design decisions. As a LEED AP BD+C and WELL AP, she has advised the firm’s Materials Fellowship to advance healthier material standards and selection workflows. She also served as project administrator for the firm’s new office WELL certification, helping EskewDumezRipple achieve Louisiana’s first WELL-certified building and achieve the highest Platinum level. Aida regularly presents at conferences and professional forums on equity, storytelling, and performance-driven design.
Across research and practice, her work reflects a commitment to using design as a tool for healthier, more just, and more resilient communities.
