PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Building Integrated Solar Absorption for Water Reuse and Thermal Control for Hot and Arid Climates

The social, economic, and environmental impacts of the inevitability of water scarcity are causing a shift to new methods in water resource management. Water reuse, as a management practice, is particularly attractive in situations where available water supply is already stressed and cannot meet expanding demands from a growing population. Given that rainfall is an insignificant source of water in hot and arid regions, conservation methods engaging prudent withdrawal from main water supplies must be utilized, as the luxury of one-time water use is not a viable practice. Dynamic building water cycles present opportunity to analyze the potential for water-savings through intervention of architectural form and through the integration of multiple systems aiding the conservation of potable and non-potable water.
